Dr. Upendra Kaul is a pioneer of Indian interventional cardiology and serves as Chairman & Dean of Academics and Research at Batra Hospital, New Delhi. He previously served as Professor of Cardiology at AIIMS and Executive Director at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute. His clinical practice spans over four decades and includes percutaneous cardiopulmonary bypass, rotational and directional atherectomy, coronary stenting, and percutaneous laser myocardial revascularisation — many of which he helped introduce to India. A Padma Shri laureate (2017) and author of more than 400 peer-reviewed papers, Dr. Kaul is Chief Editor of the Journal of the Practice of Cardiovascular Sciences and a former President of the Cardiological Society of India.
