About the doctor

Dr. Ramakanta Panda founded the Asian Heart Institute (AHI) in Mumbai in 2002 and has personally performed over 29,000 cardiac surgeries, including more than 2,000 redo bypass operations and 6,000 high-risk cases — with a documented 99.8% success rate. He is globally recognised as one of the safest surgeons for complex CABG and redo bypass. He graduated from SCB Medical College (Cuttack), completed MS and MCh in Cardiothoracic Surgery at AIIMS New Delhi, and trained at the Cleveland Clinic under Dr. Floyd Loop and at Harefield Hospital UK under Sir Magdi Yacoub. Before founding AHI he served as Head of the Cardiac Transplant Programme at Cleveland Clinic. A Padma Bhushan laureate (2021), Dr. Panda was among the first Indian surgeons to adopt total arterial revascularisation and off-pump (beating-heart) bypass, and is a frequent second-opinion consultant for international heads of state and industry.
